Location & credentials
Be in California for each session
Therapists can only see clients in states where they hold a license or registration. Every therapist who serves California holds a California license or registration, so you need to be located in California during each session.
-
Where you are, not where you live
What counts is where you are when the session starts. At home in San Diego, at work in Sacramento, or visiting family in the Bay Area: anywhere in California works.
-
Traveling out of state
If you’ll be outside California for a session, let your therapist know ahead of time so you can plan around it together.
-
Moving to Illinois or New York
Some of our therapists also serve Illinois or New York, so you may be able to keep the same therapist. Each therapist’s bio lists the states they serve.
