My Philosophy

As a black woman who grew up in urban contexts, I aim to help people thrive, especially those who belong to marginalized communities.

I understand there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Because of this, I utilize a mix of modalities from a trauma-responsive, relational lens. I have worked with teens, young adults, and adults from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds across different settings, from community mental health to hospital settings. I can hold what you bring to a session.

I value understanding the why behind your symptoms and the context that may be contributing to the issues. Additionally, after understanding the "why," we work to develop skills to manage and combat symptoms.

My clients are encouraged to explore their identities, current relationships, core values, and sources of joy. They examine the patterns, whether habits or relational, that may impact their journey toward the life they desire. Questions we contemplate include: Are they holding healthy boundaries? Can they understand and identify their emotions and express them in healthy ways? Do they show the same love to themselves that they extend to others?

My goal is for clients to leave with greater confidence in their ability to navigate life's challenges, a deeper understanding of who they are, and increased hope. Let's collaborate on your mental health journey to grow, transform, and become healthier people.
